...nope, it's a Scorpion!
Say what? Yep, the 15mm version of the FD-24 Scorpion has been sent to be printed, joining some Spec-Sec vehicles in line. It will come with 2 weapons options: long barrel conventional canon and a large caliber autocanon, along with an ammo storage bustle addition. There will be a separate upgrade pack which will have both a rail gun and plasma canon (same as carried by the Puma LODAV GIFV) with a power generator bustle addition (which will replace the ammo stowage that comes with the kit). Now, word is that I will be receiving a few examples of the Puma, S'orhan and Talin before heading down to MilleniumCon in Austin. I was hoping to get them last week so at least one of each could be painted up but you'll be able to see them "in the raw" at the booth if you drop by. If no changes to the molds are needed they will be put up for pre-order the following week. Rumor also says that the upcoming 15mm stowage packs may also be ready and present, and I sure am hoping so or I will feel like a total boob! The packs will contain tools, bore cleaning rods (disassembled and racked), an assortment of back packs and boxes, camo netting, tarps, fuel and water cans, and maybe even hot food carriers and an ice-chest. I will of course post pix as soon as they are in my hands. Hope to see y'all in Austin on the 7th-9th!

Look what arrived at DSG HQ in the mail today: Yup, those are the 15mm S'orhan and Puma on the left, and the Talin on the lower right. Shown with them for scaling are a 1/56 scale Stryker (painted on top left), an unpainted 1/100 scale Stryker (on right, above Talin) and a 15mm M48 tank. Also shown are their 6mm counterparts.
Yup, the Puma and S'orhan are BIG, but then again they are meant to bring whole platoons down from orbit and support them during an assault landing, rather than being employed in the traditional battlefield-taxi role, like the Talin. So, after a touch of cleanup these babies will be off to be caste. Look for them in a month or so. Their preparedness for sale will be heralded with much fanfare. What? 2 updates in one week? And on the 4th of July too?
Yep. And it's not even the Apocalypse. Here's another WIP for you guys and gals. Happy 4th of July! Be careful with those fireworks, they are not for oral consumption. Hey. How's it going? Hot enough for ya? Well, here's something cool for you to check out! Here are some quick and dirty shots of the 3d model of the 15mm version of the Venturian's S'orhan LODAV GIFV (to be SKU# 15VT2). We were hoping to have this round of masters printed, molds made, and castings ready to go for Historicon, but that is not seeming likely. But rest assured, as soon as the prints arrive, we'll post some photos! Till then, here's the raw model: Now, just so you know, we are presenting the model in "ground mode", meaning the airfoil at the rear of the top deck is retracted, and the troop rapid drop chutes are rotated outwards. Not shown are some of the additional details, such as crew steps, thin panel lines, textures and other "stuff".
We hope you are all working feverishly on your Zonii dwellings for the contest. We have had a few emails asking clarification on the rules, but also a few asking about when some of the 6mm Dark Star range will be making appearances in 15mm. They are truly coming, with work moving ahead on several of the designs concurrently.
The plan is to release them in groups of 6-8, with figure releases in between. Though several of the designs are complete we have not yet been able to get them all printed. It is a quite costly process... So, while we listen closely for the sounds of scratch building going on we present you with these two work-in-progress teaser pictures of a 15mm scale Puma LODAV GIFV. Don't get too excited now. The Venturians just received some heavy duty support assets, in the form of the Bo'Sha (Thunder Hail) Multi-Munition Launcher (rocket artillery) and the Tzzoh (Lightning) Anti-Aircraft tank. These 6mm minis are now available in the store for your Dark Star forces in the standard 3-pack. It is even possible to mix-and-match the turrets (as they use the same hull) to create a very versatile hybrid if you have both packs. Indirect rocket artillery bombardment AND direct Anti-Aircraft/Tank/Infantry fire... Wherever shall your enemies hide? The next wave of 6mm models for the Dark Star range is well under way, and we thought that you might like a sneak peek at a Venturian vehicle designed to fill two positions: Point Defense and Mobile Artillery! This sturdy tank will sport either a pair of Multi-Munition Launch Systems (in the Mobile Artillery role) for both target saturation of precision munition delivery, or a pair of heavy beam turrets capable of tracking and engaging targets independently (in the Point Defense role). If it comes over the horizon, it's toast! |
